The Porto nipping press has a maximum usable pressing area of 32cm wide and 22cm deep. The base and platen are made of counter-grain laminations of oak and sapele mahogany with both having a machine-flattened steel plate affixed to them by hidden bolts,
The press weighs approximately 28kg and has approx 22cm of vertical daylight. There are two heavy steel mounting lugs attached to the base at the front and rear so that the press can be bolted down to a bench or support table.
The main top shoulder bar is again an oak and sapele mahogany lamination and the press is operated by a 32cm steel handwheel.
